The 12th Student

the_12th_student.jpgOkay, I'd like all of you to read this article, and try to explain the final line to me. This is a real article from a mainstream newspaper from a few years ago... it flabbergasted me at the time, and still does. I can't make sense of it at all, unless it's some copy-editor's idea of a joke. Strange and ominous.

It looks like the author felt the need to explain why only five of the six students who didn't confess either met with school officials or awaited trial. It does make you wonder though: was this death a coincidence, or was the student executed for cheating?

You can't help but get a grim chuckle out of this.
