Miguel Covarrubias's "Green Mansions"
Miguel Covarrubias was, in my opinion, the premiere commerical caricaturist of the twentieth century - more varied and less flattering than Al Hirschfeld or David Levine, though not as scathing or stylistically radical as Ralph Steadman or Gerald Scarfe - and I qualified that statement with "commercial" because I suppose it would be unfair to compare his work to the likes of Otto Dix, Jack Levine, etc.
Here are several gorgeous illustrations Covarrubias provided for the novel Green Mansions, which was apparently a popular book to reissue occasionally with fresh pictures (see here). This volume has copyrights of 1937 & 1944.
